Turkish National Anthem
Here is the full text of the first two stanzas, which are typically sung:
1. Stanza
Korkma, sönmez bu şafaklarda yüzen al sancak; Fear not! For the crimson flag that proudly ripples in this dawn, shall not fade,
Sönmeden yurdumun üstünde tüten en son ocak. Before the last fiery hearth that is ablaze within my nation is extinguished.
O benim milletimin yıldızıdır, parlayacak; It is the star of my nation, and it will forever shine;
O benimdir, o benim milletimindir ancak. It is mine, it belongs solely to my valiant nation.
2. Stanza
Çatma, kurban olayım çehreni ey nazlı hilâl! Frown not, I beseech you, oh coy crescent!
Kahraman ırkıma bir gül... ne bu şiddet bu celâl? Smile upon my heroic race! Why the anger, why the rage?
Sana olmaz dökülen kanlarımız sonra helâl; Our blood shed for you shall not be unavenged;
Hakkıdır, Hakk'a tapan milletimin istiklâl! For freedom is the right of my God-worshiping nation!
