Comparison in Turkish
The word "Daha" in Turkish is "More and suffix - er" in English. For example:
- Istanbul büyük. Istanbul is big.
- Istanbul daha büyük. Istanbul is bigger.
- Istanbul güzel. Istanbul is nice.
- Istanbul daha güzel. Istanbul is nicer
When you compare two things, you say them first and then add the comparative adjective (bigger, smaller, nicer, cheaper, more interesting, etc).
The word "Daha" takes the suffix "- den / dan (from)" in this form, instead of the word "Than" in English. Let's compare Istanbul to Izmir:
- Istanbul büyük. Istanbul is big.
- Istanbul daha büyük. Istanbul is bigger.
- Istanbul Izmir'den daha büyük. Istanbul is bigger than Izmir.
- Istanbul güzel. Istanbul is nice.
- Istanbul daha güzel. Istanbul is nicer.
- Istanbul Izmir'den daha güzel. Istanbul is nicer than Izmir.
