What is a "Buffer" in Turkish language?

Buffers are consonants added to the word and the suffix. You add a buffer between the word and the suffix if the last letter of the word and the first letter of the suffix is a vowel.

There are three consonants used as "buffer" in Turkish. They are "s, y, n". For example:

• Onun arabası çok hızlı. His car is very fast.
• Adam kahveyi içiyor. The man is drinking the coffee.
• O dil okuluna gidiyor. He is going to the language school.

1. Buffer S

Add the buffer "S" in these grammar forms if the last letter of the Word and the last letter of the suffix is a vowel.

• Onun arabası (Possessive adjectives, his, her, its)
• Japon arabası (Compound nouns)
• Ali’nin arabası (Possessive phrase)

2. Buffer Y

Add the buffer «y» in this grammar form if the last letter of the word and the last letter of the suffix is a vowel.

• Bir kahve / kahveyi (Definite Object used as "The")
• Kafeye (Suffix for "To")

3. Buffer N

Add the buffer "N" to the suffixes for «the, to, at, from» if the it’s a compound noun. For example:

• okulu The school dil okulunu The language school
• okula To school dil okuluna To anguage school
• okulda At school dil okulunda At language school
• okuldan From school dil okulundan From language school
